Lao People’s Army receives anti-Covid-19 aid from Chinese counterpart

A handover ceremony for the medical supplies and equipment donated by the People’s Liberation Army of China to the Lao People’s Army took place on Nov 23 in Vientiane between Chinese Ambassador to Laos Jiang Zaidong and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Gen. Chansamone Chanyalath in the presence of relevant officials of both sides. The aid package included 403,200 covid-19 test kits, 30,000 sample collection kits, 30,000 sample containers, five PCR machines, 15 ventilators, 15 mucus suckers, 10 patient monitors, 10 electrocardiograph machines, 20 fingertip pulse oximeters and 15 vaccine fridges and 30 vaccine containers, among others.
Supporting the Covid-19 fight in the Lao PDR, China has provided 6.2 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine to the country. The package excluded 700,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine the People’s Liberation Army of China had provided to the Lao People’s Army.
