Laos has confirmed 685 new Covid-19 cases and three new deaths over the previous 24 hours, bringing the total caseload to 40,271 including 65 deaths, according to the National Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

Of the new confirmed cases, 679 were classified as domestic infections and six as imported cases.

Vientiane has reported one death and Luang Prabang confirmed two cases of death.

Some 372 patients were discharged from hospital yesterday, a press conference was told today.

The domestic infections included 387 in Vientiane, 213 in Khammuan, 122 in Vientiane province, 59 in Oudomxay, 55 in Luang Namtha, 39 each in Luang Prabang and Bokeo, 17 in Saravan, 12 each in Savannakhet and Xekong, seven in Champassak, and six in Xaysomboun, two in Xieng Khuang and one in Borikhamxay.

The imported cases were recorded in Vientiane three, Luang Prabang, Saravan and Xayaboury one each.
