Laos Seeks Vietnam’s Expertise to Enhance Journalism and Integrate AI in Media

Hanoi: President of the Lao Journalists’ Association (LJA) Savanhkhone Razmountry has expressed a desire for enhanced professional exchanges with the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA), focusing on the deployment of experienced Vietnamese experts to improve reporting skills in Laos.

According to Lao News Agency, during a working session in Hanoi with Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan (People) newspaper and Chairman of the VJA, Savanhkhone discussed the current state of Laos’ media landscape and recent major national events. He emphasized the necessity for Vietnamese support in advancing the skills of Lao reporters and media workers. Additionally, he showed interest in adopting scientific and technological advancements, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance journalistic practices.

Le Quoc Minh acknowledged that the visit would strengthen the connection between the two associations as well as between Vietnamese and Lao media outlets. He noted the ongoing collaboration over the yea
rs, which includes training programs for reporters and editors, cultural exchanges, and the regular exchange of information regarding socio-economic developments in both nations.

On the same day, both organizations launched an advanced training course and an experience-sharing session on environmental reporting specifically tailored for Lao journalists. This initiative aims to improve the quality of journalism in Laos by providing essential skills and knowledge.

Earlier in the year, a delegation from the VJA participated in a regional forum in Laos hosted by the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists. The event brought together media professionals from across Southeast Asia to share best practices for enhancing content quality in the digital age, underscoring the importance of regional cooperation in journalism.
