Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung on Tuesday invited citizens to attend a ceremony next month symbolizing his appointment by the people.
According to Lao News Agency, in a Facebook post, Lee announced that the “People’s Appointment Ceremony” will take place at Gwanghwamun Square in downtown Seoul on August 15, shortly after the ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day. This event aims to allow citizens, seen as sovereigns, to personally appoint the 21st president and share their individual expectations and wishes.
Lee encouraged citizens to participate by sharing a link to the official website (www.korea815.go.kr) where they can apply to attend either ceremony. This initiative comes after Lee assumed office without a formal inauguration ceremony following his victory in the June 3 presidential election, which was prompted by the ouster of former President Yoon Suk Yeol.
