Malaysia To Organise World Professional Boxing Federation Championship In April

KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 (Bernama) — Malaysia will organise the World Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) championship on April 16.

The one day championship which will be held at the One World Hotel in Bandar Utama, here will feature the Feather Weight, Super Light Weight, Super Bantam Weight, Welter Weight and WPBF World Youth Belt Welter Weight categories.

“The championship will see the involvement of two Malaysian boxers – Mohammad Shehran Abdullah and Jonathon Yeow Ming in the Feather Weight and Super Light Weight respectively,” chairman and founder of Capstone Sports Sdn Bhd, Vikram Sivapragasam, told reporters here today.

Vikram said the prestigious championship organised for the first time in the country will feature boxers from eight countries, namely United States, Indonesia, Philippines, Brazil, Mexico, Uzbekistan, Singapore and Malaysia.

He said the two Malaysian boxers would be able to use the championship as a platform to gain exposure and experience on the world stage.

“Malaysian boxers can be on par with boxers from the region if they are exposed to world class competitions,” he said.
