Marcos Launches Discounted Beep Cards for Students at LRT-2

Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has introduced discounted Beep cards for students using metro rail lines, aiming to make public transportation more affordable for the youth.

According to Philippines News Agency, the rollout of the student Beep cards at the Legarda Station in Manila, part of the Light Rail Transit – Line 2 (LRT-2), is part of the Marcos administration’s broader public transport reforms. These reforms are focused on enhancing commuter experience across Metro Manila. During the ceremonial launch of the white Beep cards, Marcos announced that students would receive a 50-percent discount when riding the LRT-1, LRT-2, and the Metro Rail Transit (MRT)- Line 3.

Marcos emphasized the significance of the discount, stating that it is a considerable help for students who are on a tight budget. He expressed satisfaction in launching the new system that facilitates the distribution of discounted Beep cards to students. Additionally, he highlighted a new method for topping up Beep cards, which removes the need for students to visit physical reloading stations.

The President noted that the discounted Beep cards are anticipated to reduce the financial burden on student commuters and improve their daily travel experience in the capital. He reiterated his administration’s dedication to enhancing the overall commuting experience by continuing to modernize public transportation for a more comfortable and efficient journey for all passengers.
