Manila: The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday announced the seizure of illegal drugs valued at PHP218 million through various operations conducted over the past week.
According to Philippines News Agency, PDEA reported that it confiscated illegal drugs amounting to PHP189.73 million, with 98 suspects arrested during 52 operations conducted from September 5 to 12. PDEA Director General and Undersecretary Isagani Nerez stated that the accomplishments highlight the dedication of their operatives and the effectiveness of their collaboration with the PNP and other law enforcement agencies. Nerez emphasized that their efforts go beyond arresting pushers, as they aim to dismantle entire drug networks, sending a clear message that illegal drugs are unwelcome in communities.
The PNP, on its part, reported the seizure of illegal drugs worth PHP28.9 million nationwide from September 5 to 11. PNP information chief Brig. Gen. Randulf Tua±o noted that 876 operations resulted in the arrest of 989 suspects and the seizure of 4,078 grams of shabu and 10,310 marijuana plants. During the same period, the PNP also apprehended 1,050 most wanted individuals through intensified manhunt operations. Additionally, Tua±o reported the arrest of 36 smuggling suspects during 53 police operations, which led to the seizure of items valued at PHP44.3 million.
