Phase 1 of PBBM low-cost housing in Laoag set for August turnover

LAOAG CITY: At least 100 low-cost housing units under the Marcos administration’s Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) program in Barangay Talingaan this city is scheduled for turnover by the end of August.

The project is comprised of six buildings, with Phase I alone boasting 100 units.

‘They will soon become homes to many individuals and families in need of low-cost housing,’ Laoag City Mayor Michael Keon said in a statement Monday. “I am hopeful that the contractor will meet its target as per the schedule.’

Through the subsidies extended to beneficiaries of the 4PH program, prices of homes and the monthly amortization will be significantly reduced, allowing low-income earners who are members of the Home Development Mutual (Pag-IBIG) Fund to avail of a housing unit, payable in 30 years.

Launched in September 2022, the 4PH program is being implemented by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development in collaboration with other government agencies to address some 6.5 million housing backl
ogs.

The city government here has also signed a memorandum of agreement with EL Construction and Development Group, Inc., the contractor and developer of the 106,000 square meter property in Talingaan village, to develop a European-style housing project.

The project will have 4,600 units spread across 46 five-story buildings, with each floor accommodating 20 units.
