Malacañang has declared Sept. 11 as a special non-working day in Ilocos Norte to mark the 106th birth anniversary of the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. The holiday announcement was contained in Proclamation 327 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Wednesday, with authority of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Bersamin said the people of Ilocos Norte deserve to have the opportunity to celebrate the birth anniversary of the late president’It is fitting and proper that the people of the Province of Ilocos Norte be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,’ the proclamation read. Marcos Sr. was born on Sept. 11, 1917 in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte. He served as the 10th president of the Philippines. During his term, Marcos Sr. focused on improving the country’s agriculture, education, infrastructure, energy production and foreign policy.
