Manila: The number of families affected by the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones Mirasol, Nando, and Opong has reached 906,794, as reported by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). This figure equates to 3,402,391 individuals living in 8,087 barangays across 16 regions.
According to Philippines News Agency, as of the latest update, 30,265 families have sought refuge in 1,607 evacuation centers, while an additional 84,240 families are receiving assistance outside these centers. The death toll has risen to 27, with only four fatalities confirmed in the Cordillera Administrative Region. The remaining 23 deaths are still under verification, including nine from Bicol, eight from Cagayan Valley, two each from Central Luzon and Central Visayas, and one each from Eastern Visayas and Mimaropa.
The report also indicates that 33 individuals sustained injuries, with 14 confirmed cases and 16 persons currently missing. The severe weather events have led to the damage of approximately 16,911 houses, with 14,311 partially damaged and 2,600 totally destroyed. Additionally, the financial impact on agriculture and infrastructure is significant, with estimated damages of PHP1.01 billion and PHP979.6 million, respectively.
