Taiwan extends visa-free entry to Filipinos until July 2025

MANILA: Taiwan has extended its visa-free entry program for Philippine passport holders until July 31, 2025.

The announcement was made by the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs-Bureau of Consular Affairs on June 4, renewing for another year its ‘trial visa-free entry’ for nationals of its ‘New Southbound Policy’ partners, including Thailand and Brunei.

‘After evaluating the effectiveness of the above measures over the past years, participating agencies decided to extend the trial visa-free entry program for one year for nationals of Thailand, Brunei, and the Philippines from August 1, 2024, to July 31, 2025,’ it said in an advisory.

The Taiwan MOFA said it will continue to review and fine-tune its visa policies to attract more visitors while ensuring border and public security.

‘MOFA will also continue to communicate with the governments of related countries to enhance visa treatment for Taiwan nationals and make their overseas travel more convenient,’ it said.

Filipinos were first included in Taiwan’s p
ilot visa-free scheme in November 2017, allowing them to stay visa-free in Taiwan for at least 14 days.
