Trkiye’s Bedirhan expressed the team’s mindset, stating, “We came in today knowing that this could be a difficult match after our big win against Japan. Our level dropped a little bit on the second set, but we regrouped after that and got back to playing at our usual level. We came here ready to play tough matches, and we want to keep going. We want to be first in the pool, and now we’re in a good position to do it.”

Libya’s performance was highlighted by opposite Ahmed Ikhbayri, who emerged as the match’s top scorer with 19 points, comprising 16 kills and three blocks. Libyan libero and captain Fuad Elmaarug noted the team’s inexperience at this level, stating, “It’s the first time for this team competing at the World Championship. We’ve only played in continental events and don’t have much experience at this level, so sometimes it’s hard. But I’m sure that this experience will make our young team much stronger in the future.”

Meanwhile, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, world No. 11 Cuba rebounded from a defeat to Portugal by overpowering Colombia with scores of 25-22, 25-21, 25-20 in Pool D. Outside hitter Osniel Melgarejo led the Cuban team with 14 points, consisting of 12 kills, one block, and one ace. Opposite Jos© Masso contributed 12 points, while outside hitter Marlon Yant added 11.

We saw what happened in our first match, and we’re focused on not getting too confident and preparing well for each match because every team here is dangerous. We needed to win today, and we just pushed hard and gave our best.”

For Colombia, opposite Miguel ngel Amaranto was the standout performer, leading all scorers with 18 points, including 16 kills, one block, and one ace. Outside hitter Andr©s Piza reflected on the team’s progress, stating, “I think we’ve been playing well, but we need to be able to keep our level high for longer periods to compete with these teams. It’s been a great experience for us, and I feel that the team is improving in every match. We need to continue to grow and to find a way to keep our level high in the difficult moments.”
