Vientiane: The Traffic Police Department has announced a temporary suspension of vehicle license plate registration and installation services from January 5 to 9, 2026. This decision comes as part of the preparations for the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.

According to Lao News Agency, the suspension is due to the deployment of all personnel to maintain security, public order, and traffic management during the event. The service centers affected by this temporary halt include the Thong Pong Vehicle Plate Management Division, the Xaythany District Branch at Kilometre 16, the Naxaithong District Nam Souang Branch, the Hatsaxayfong District Dong Phosy Branch, and the Pak Ngum District Na Son Branch.

Authorities have assured the public that normal services will resume after January 9. Vehicle owners are advised to plan ahead to avoid inconvenience during this period.
