Vietnam and Singapore Unveil New Industrial Park Project in Quang Ngai

Quang Ngai: The groundbreaking ceremony for the Vietnam – Singapore Industrial Park II (VSIP II) Quang Ngai infrastructure development project was held in Binh Son district in the central province of Quang Ngai. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended the event along with Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh and National Assembly Vice Chairmen Tran Quang Phuong and Vu Hong Thanh, as well as officials from various ministries, sectors, and the province.

According to Lao News Agency, the event coincides with Party General Secretary To Lam’s official visit to Singapore, underscoring the effective cooperation between the two nations. The project, which received investment approval from the Prime Minister on December 22, 2023, spans 497.7 hectares and involves a registered investment capital of approximately 161 million USD. The park is designed to integrate green technologies, smart infrastructure, industrial symbiosis, and sustainable development principles, aiming to attract global investments to the province. Once operational, it will serve as a hub for leading companies seeking to expand their business and production activities.

Binh urged Sembcorp Industries of Singapore and Becamex IDC Corporation of Vietnam to leverage their successful industrial park, urban, and service zone models to ensure the project’s timely completion and desired outcomes. He emphasized the development of VSIP II Quang Ngai into a smart, modern, and sustainable industrial park, fostering ecosystems that integrate industry, innovation, urban development, services, and high technology.

Binh highlighted the importance of harmonious development with the community, infrastructure, and the knowledge economy. He requested ministries and sectors to support the investors with investment and construction procedures and to address challenges promptly. Additionally, he instructed the provincial People’s Committee to assist relevant units in completing investment preparations and site clearance compensation according to regulations.

Binh also called on businesses to collaborate with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour to provide comfortable housing facilities for workers and to support local communities through social welfare and sustainable development initiatives. This approach aims to balance business interests with shared risks and benefits.

The Vietnamese Government remains committed to maintaining a stable investment environment, accelerating administrative reforms, and improving the legal system to create a transparent and healthy investment climate for both domestic and foreign firms. Binh expressed hope that VSIP will continue to symbolize the strong cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore.

During the event, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Bui Thi Quynh Van and other provincial leaders presented investment certificates and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) on investment to the project’s investors.
