Some 198 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded nationwide over the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 17,555 including 4,270 active cases and 16 deaths, said Director General of the Department of Communicable Disease Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Rattanaxay Phetsouvanh.
He told a press conference today that some 3,425 people were tested for Covid-19 yesterday.
Of the new confirmed cases, 104 were classified as local infections and 94 as imported cases. The local transmissions included 43 in Khammuan, 25 in Champassak, 13 in Savannakhet, 9 each in Luang Prabang and Vientiane, three in Luang Namtha and one each in Bokeo and Xekong.
The imported cases were reported in Savannakhet 39, Saravan 26, Vientiane 21, Champassak 5, Luang Prabang 2 and Xayaboury 1.
