Laos has logged 858 new Covid-19 cases and one new death over the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 39,586 including 6,672 active cases and 62 deaths, a press conference was told this morning.
Deputy Director of the National Centre for Laboratory and Epidemiology, Ministry of Health, Dr Buaphanh Khamphaphongphan told the press conference in Vientiane that the infections were detected among 7,175 people tested for Covid-19 nationwide yesterday.
Yesterday also witnessed 557 patients discharged from hospital.
Of the newly confirmed cases, 856 were classified as domestic infections and two as imported cases-all were reported in Xayabury.
The domestic infections were recorded in Vientiane 361, Luang Namtha 155, Vientiane (province) 131, Luang Prabang and Bokeo 67 each, Champassak 21, Khammuan 15, Borikhamxay 12, Savannakhet 10, Saravan seven, Oudomxay and Xekong three each, Xaysomboun two, Phongsaly and Xieng Khuang one each.
