NA Chairman meets ambassadors, heads of overseas representative agencies


Hanoi: National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue held a working session in Hanoi on December 21 with a delegation of the Vietnamese representative agencies abroad led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, within the framework of the 32nd Diplomatic Conference.

Speaking at the event, Chairman Hue said diplomatic work has achieved many significant results, both bilaterally and multilaterally, becoming a bright spot among the country’s overall achievements in recent years.

The diplomatic activities of the NA, especially those of the Chairman and Vice Chairpersons, have elevated parliamentary diplomacy into a foremost channel of foreign relations and a source of strength to deepen cooperation with other countries in a profound and effective manner; enhance the country’s international position, particularly in politics-diplomacy, socio-economy and sci-tech. He asked ambassadors and heads of diplomatic representative agencies to continue building a professional, comprehensive and modern diplomatic sector, thus enhancing Vietnam’s reputation and position on the international stage.

The Vietnamese NA and its leaders will continue giving the top priority to the diplomatic sector when considering and deciding on issues within their jurisdiction, with the aim to ensure that the Vietnamese diplomacy’s global standing increasingly improves, aligning with the unprecedented “potential, fortune, position and international prestige” of the country as highlighted at the 13th National Party Congress, he said.

Minister Son said apart from joining activities of the 32nd Diplomatic Conference, ambassadors will actively work with ministries, agencies, localities and businesses to collect information and specific suggestions, thus performing diplomatic tasks entrusted by the Party and State, and best meet the country’s development requirements./.

PM sets out major tasks in economic diplomacy


Hanoi: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assigned major tasks to the diplomatic sector and relevant agencies in economic diplomacy while addressing a plenary session of the ongoing 32nd National Diplomatic Conference on December 21.

The leader asked them to continue institutionalising and concretising instructions of the Party and the State, and relevant documents issued by the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat and the Government with new mindset and strategic visions.

He stressed the need to catch up with global trends, focus on removing obstacles, perfect institutions, promote cooperation, concretise economic commitments and review their implementation.

Other tasks include diversifying markets, products, and supply chains; tapping the potential of the Middle East, Africa and South America and Halal markets; carrying forward self-reliance, self-resilience, innovation and creativeness; and enhancing coordination and connectivity with other agencies and localities in the spirit of putting businesses and lo
calities at the centre.

Lauding the diplomatic sector’s efforts and performance over the past time, the Government leader emphasised that economic diplomacy must closely follow domestic requirements, and the sector needs to work harder to raise the efficiency of economic diplomacy.

In his remarks, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son attributed achievements in economic diplomacy to efforts by the entire sector, localities and enterprises, as well as the whole political system and the national economy.

Participants proposed many solutions to boost traditional growth drivers like export and investment, and to open new development spaces for the economy in the fields of green growth, digital transformation and semiconductors.

They commended the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese representative offices abroad to localities and businesses during the implementation of economic diplomacy, particularly in investment and trade promotion, and resources attraction./.

Party leader demands continued efforts to ensure peaceful, happy life for people


Hanoi: The Central Public Security Party Committee (CPSPC) held a conference in Hanoi on December 20 to review task performance in 2023 and outline orientations and duties for next year.

The event saw the presence of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Vo Van Thuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who are also Politburo members and members of the CPSPC Standing Board. It was chaired by Gen. To Lam – Politburo member, Secretary of the CPSPC, and Minister of Public Security.

Participants shared the view that in 2023, the CPSPC has shown effective and comprehensive leadership, direction, and implementation of tasks while firmly maintaining the strategic proactiveness, peace, stability, security, and social safety to successfully serve the country’s socio-economic development, international integration, and national construction and safeguarding.

The CPSPC has advised the Party and State on many important policies and measures about political security and social order and safety. It
has also taken many drastic measures about the Party and political system building and rectification to develop a truly clean and strong public security force, they noted.

Addressing the conference, Party General Secretary Trong, President Thuong, and PM Chinh highly valued efforts and achievements by the CPSPC and the Ministry of Public Security this year.

Stressing some focal tasks for the coming time, the General Secretary asked the CPSPC to actively, methodologically, and systematically consider and give advice to the Party, the State, and local Party committees and administrations about policies and laws on socio-economic development, defence and security safeguarding, and external relations.

He requested the continuation of comprehensive and fruitful implementation of the policies and measures for ensuring national security, sovereignty, and territory, along with more drastic and effective efforts to carry out anti-crime solutions to guarantee a peaceful and happy life for the people.

In addition, t
he CPSPC needs to keep taking the lead in implementing the resolutions of the 11th and 12th Party Central Committee’s fourth meetings and Conclusion No. 21-KL/TW, issued at the fourth meeting of the 13th Party Central Committee, on enhancing the Party and political system building and rectification, and resolutely fighting the degradation of political thought, morality and lifestyle as well as phenomena of ‘self-evolution’ and ‘self-transformation’./.

Vietnamese college contributes to personnel training in Laos, Cambodia


Thai Nguyen: Thai Nguyen College in the northern province of the same name has been presented with the Friendship Order of Laos, and Cambodia’s Royal Order of Sahametrei-Tepidin in recognition of its contributions to human resources development of the two neighbouring countries.

A ceremony was held on December 20 to receive the honour and celebrate the 45th anniversary of the educational institution (December 20, 1978-2023), with the attendance of representatives from the Lao and Cambodian embassies in Vietnam.

In his remarks, Permanent Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Pham Hoang Son commended the college’s contributions to people-to-people diplomacy of the province and the country, as well as the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and the two neighbours.

The official asked the college to continue developing a contingent of high-quality lecturers and pay more attention to Lao and Cambodian students, and suggested it give heed to such majors as technology, services, creative design, e
lectronics, mechanics and automation, and optimise digital transformation and scientific-technological achievements in teaching.

The college has so far provided training for nearly 1,800 Lao and Cambodian students who have contributed to socioeconomic development of the countries, and promoting their solidarity and friendship./.

HCM City, Japan’s Hyogo prefecture to cooperate in different fields


HCM City: Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Phan Van Mai pointed to great cooperation opportunities for businesses from Japan, particularly Hyogo prefecture, during a reception for its Governor Saito Motohiko on December 20.

Mai noted his belief that Saito’s visit, which takes place after Vietnam and Japan elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World, will open up more substantive, effective cooperation opportunities for the two localities.

He suggested Hyogo firms invest in banking, finance, tourism, trade, agriculture, electronics, semiconductors and new materials in HCM City, adding that the two sides also boast potential for collaboration in other spheres like high-tech medicine, in-depth diagnostics, health products, and personnel training.

For his part, Saito spoke highly of HCM City’s development potential, saying many Hyogo businesses want to cooperate with the southern metropolis and engage in its development
process.

Hyogo also hopes to strengthen cooperation with the city in such fields as personnel training, high added value production, and exchanges between residents, especially youths, he stressed./.
