Cebu City pushes for ramp project connecting to CCLEx

CEBU CITY: Mayor Michael Rama is pushing for the construction of a ramp that will connect the three interior villages in this capital city to the Cebu-Cordova Link Express (CCLEX), an official said on Wednesday.

Architect Yumi Espina, head of the Cebu City Planning and Development Office, said the residents of the three barangays are receptive to the ramp project, seeing it as a vital infrastructure that will link the areas to the town of Cordova.

Espina said the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is committed to complementing the project with a peripheral widening along the historical Tres de Abril Street that will connect to V. Rama Ave at the N. Bacalso Ave. junction.

The DPWH-7 is now doing the parcellary survey along the national road affected by the ramp project, he said.

CCLEX developer and operator, CCLEX Corp. (CCLEC), is now holding public consultations in Pasil, Pahina-San Nicolas, and Ermita, the villages where the ramp will traverse and link to the expressway leading to Cordova to
wn.

‘The city government is working closely with CCLEC,’ Espina said.

The Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. revealed that the ramp project will have an increased fund from PHP3 billion to PHP6 billion.

The CCLEX has reduced travel time to Mactan Island by 40 minutes.
