Deputy Prime Minister receives U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman

Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune received on Jun 10 a courtesy call from visiting U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman.

The vice premier highly valued Sherman’s working visit to the Lao PDR as a significant contribution to strengthening the 60-year relations between Laos and the United States.

He spoke highly of progress in cooperation between the two countries under the Lao-US Comprehensive Partnership framework in various areas including economy, trade, health, education, search for the remains of U.S. soldiers missing in action during the war in Laos, UXO clearance as well as Covid-19 prevention and control in the Lao PDR.

He expressed on behalf of the government and people of the Lao PDR gratitude to the government and people of the United States for providing anti-Covid-19 assistance and expressed his hope that the United States will continue to provide assistance to Laos.

The host also informed the U.S. official about the socio-economic development in the Lao PDR, the priorities of the government for years to come, Vision 2030 and the National Agenda on Addressing Economic and Financial Difficulties.
