France provides 400,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson Covid vaccine to Laos

The French government has provided 400,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine and syringes to the Lao PDR.

The handover of the medical aid took place at the Ministry of Health in Vientiane on Jun 10 between French Ambassador to the Lao PDR Siv-Leng Chhuor and Minister of Health Bounfeng Phoummalaysith in the presence of relevant officials.

Addressing the event, Minister Bounfeng expressed gratitude to the assistance from the French government noting that the assistance represented the attention the French government and people have attached to the prevention and control of Covid-19 pandemic in the Lao PDR and reflected the sound relations between Laos and France.

Seventy percent of population in the Lao PDR have been given all recommended doses of Covid-19 vaccine as efforts are being made to increase Covid-19 vaccination ratio to 80% by the end of 2022.

“France is proud to have further contributed to the Lao government’s efforts in mitigating the pandemic and its socio-economic impacts. The French government has pledged to provide 120 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines worldwide. So far, France has provided 87 million doses worldwide,” said the French ambassador.
