Lao-German Friendship Centre inaugurated

The Lao-German Friendship Association opened on Monday the Lao-German Friendship Centre as a symbol of cooperation between Laos and Germany.

The opening ceremony was held in the presence of Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee Commission for External Relations Somphone Sichaleun, Minister of Education and Sports Phout Simmalavong, and the Ambassador of Germany to the Lao PDR Annette Knobloch.

“The Lao-German Friendship Association will use this center for promoting friendship exchanges on scientific and technological research, cooperation on economy, trade and investment between Lao PDR and Germany, as well as solidarity among Lao alumni from Germany. It will be also used as a German learning centre in the Lao PDR to contribute to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries and two peoples of Laos and Germany,” said President of the Lao-German Friendship Association Somok Kingsada.

Laos and Germany established diplomatic ties on Jan 31, 1958. Since then, the two countries have nurtured and strengthened their friendship.

Since the founding of Lao-German Friendship Association in 2007, the Lao PDR has welcomed a growing number of German tourists and investors.
