Laos has reported 1,504 new cases, detected among 9,654 people tested for Covid-19 yesterday and one new death attributed to the deadly virus over the past 24 hours, according to the National Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.
Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Rattanaxay Phetsouvanh also told a press conference today that the newly reported infections have raised the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country to 67,322 including 143 deaths and 10,965 active cases. Some 688 patients were discharged from hospital nationwide yesterday.
Of the new confirmed cases, 1,499 were classified as domestic infections and six as imported cases-four in Vientiane and two in Savannakhet. Most of the domestic transmissions were reported in Vientiane 677, Luang Prabang 149, Vientiane (province) 139, Phongsaly 123, and Champassak 105.
