Some 170 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded nationwide over the past 24 hours with 129 classified as imported cases and 41 as locally transmitted cases, Deputy Director of the Department of Communicable Disease Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Sisavath Soutthanilaxay told a press conference this morning.
Some 3,711 people were tested for Covid-19 yesterday.
The imported cases, dominated by migrant workers returning from neighboring countries, were largely identified in Savannakhet 48, Saravan 41, Vientiane 17, Khammuan 13, Champasak 6, Borikhamxay 3 and Xayaboury 1.
The local transmissions included 22 cases reported in Savannakhet, nine in Vientiane, four each in Bokeo and Khammuan, and one each in Saravan and Luang Prabang.
Laos’ total of Covid-19 infections has reached 15,459 including 5,317 active cases and 14 deaths.
