Negros oriental: Police teams have seized over PHP4.4 million in suspected shabu during a weeklong anti-illegal drug operation in Negros Oriental, an official said Tuesday. Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO), reported that the seized ‘shabu’ weighed approximately 655.23 grams and was confiscated from various locations across the province between September 8 and 15.
According to Philippines News Agency, the weeklong, region-wide Simultaneous Anti-criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) led to the arrest of 21 individuals during 19 anti-illegal drug operations. In addition to drug-related activities, the operations also targeted illegal gambling, resulting in five separate operations, the arrest of 10 individuals, and the confiscation of over PHP1,000 in bet money.
Lt. Polinar further detailed that 72 other operations were conducted, which led to the arrest of eight most wanted persons and 64 other wanted individuals. Moreover, 32 operations focused on unregistered firearms led to the seizure or surrender of 32 firearms, while the Oplan Katok initiative resulted in two firearms being handed in for renewal registration.
Additionally, the operations saw the apprehension of 2,107 individuals for various local ordinance violations, highlighting the comprehensive nature of the weeklong law enforcement activities.
