Hai Duong: Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone recently held a meeting with a delegation of Vietnamese businesses and international enterprises, led by Nguyen Hong Hue, Chairman of the Business Association of Overseas Vietnamese. The meeting focused on enhancing business and investment collaborations between Vietnam and Laos.
According to Lao News Agency, Hue provided an overview of the association’s activities and the enterprises participating in the Investment Promotion Forum with the association in Laos. He emphasized the forum as an opportunity for businesses to highlight their capabilities and expressed optimism that the Lao Government will support investments in sectors such as energy, mining, education, healthcare, high-tech agriculture, and the cultivation of raw materials for wood pellet exports. Additional investment proposals included trade, e-government, and an oil pipeline construction from Vietnam’s Ha Tinh province to Vientiane.
Hue urged the Lao Government to share further information on its investment policies, mechanisms, and priority sectors. He also proposed that Lao authorities enhance conditions for Vietnamese and foreign enterprises to facilitate successful investment and business projects.
Highlighting Laos’s potential for trade and investment cooperation, PM Sonexay described Laos as an attractive investment destination, particularly in agriculture, tourism, logistics, and infrastructure development. He assured that the Lao Government is committed to supporting Vietnamese and foreign investors in initiating and expanding their business operations in the country.
Earlier the same day, Lao Deputy PM Saleumxay Kommasith also engaged with the delegation.
