Some 307 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed nationwide over the previous 24 hours, raising the total to 25,524 including 6,390 active cases and 22 deaths, according Director General of the Department of Communicable Disease Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Rattanaxay Phetsouvanh.

Dr Rattanaxay also told a press conference today that yesterday witnessed 4,951 people tested for Covid-19 and some 462 patients discharged from hospital.

Of the latest confirmed cases, 301 were classified as local infections and six as imported cases.

Most locally transmitted cases were detected in Vientiane 164, Luang Prabang 47, Savannakhet 32, Champassak 19, Bokeo and Borikhamxay 12 each. The rest were detected in Khammuan 6, Vientiane (province) 4, Saravan 3 and Xieng Khuang 2.

The imported cases included four in Savannakhet and one each in Saravan and Vientiane.
