PM Phankham urges educational administrators to increase professional responsibility

Prime Minister has urged educational administrators to increase their professional responsibility, respect education-related rules, ensure education is of quality and meets human resource development requirements, and take part in addressing narcotic drug issues and other social ills.

Delivering his message on the opening of the new school year 2021-2022 on Sep 6, Prime Minister called on teachers to attach greater attention to their training and researching of new curricula, apply information and communication technology to teaching and learning, and adjust teaching, grading and assessment methods to the Covid-19 outbreak, and fulfill their career according to honesty, and ethics.

“Although in the past academic year we were affected in various dimensions especially economic and financial difficulties, frequent natural disasters in many provinces, and the severest the Covid-19 pandemic which posted adverse impacts on people’s living conditions, socio-economic environment in general, and especially on all forms of teaching and learning of the multi-ethnic children of Laos. However, we have created all favourable conditions and equitable opportunities for all to access education, and improved teaching and learning quality to ensure it meets the demand of the national protection and development at the present time with an aim to have our country graduating from the least developed country status and marching along socialist path,” said Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh.

The premier expressed gratitude to development partners, friendly countries, international organizations and nongovernmental organizations for their support and assistance and participation in developing the education and sport sector in the Lao PDR.

He asked Party and government organizations, mass organizations, parents’ associations, village educational development committee, communities, civil society organizations, and entrepreneurs to contribute to educating students, create favourable conditions for the learning of students, and consider education as shared responsibility of all people in the society.

He also asked public and private sectors, parents and students to cooperate with the Education and Sport Sector and the Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control at all levels to ensure the successful and effective implementation of the new academic year.
