Me, My Autism & I campaign
Fabrice Beaulieu recognized as Brand Advertiser of the Year by Act Responsible

CANNES, France, June 23, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Reckitt, the company behind some of the world’s most recognizable and trusted consumer brands, was awarded six Cannes Lions – including its first-ever Gold Lion – at the 70th Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, the most prestigious international advertising and creativity showcase.

Reckitt’s winning work includes:

  • GOLD in Creative Strategy: Vanish Me, My Autism & I (U.K.)
  • SILVER in Film, Craft, Casting: Vanish Me, My Autism & I (U.K.)
  • BRONZE in Health & Wellness: Durex The Art of Sex (POL)
  • BRONZE in Media: Mortein Suraksha Ka-Teeka (IND)
  • BRONZE in Film Craft, Sound & Design: Vanish Me, My Autism & I (U.K.)
  • BRONZE in Brand Experience & Activation: Mortein (IND)

Vanish, a Gold Winner in the Creative Strategy category, created a campaign, in partnership with Havas, that addressed unrecognized truths about autism – that for most autistic people, familiar and consistent clothing can help with sensory regulation and provide a source of comfort. The campaign set out to nurture a conversation that breaks down myths and broadens the public’s understanding of autism – particularly in girls – through powerful stories.

DE&I & SUSTAINABILITY
Reckitt’s presence at the Cannes Lions Festival focused on championing the value and transformative power of creative work to advance societal change, as well as move business goals forward.

On Thursday, June 22, Fabrice Beaulieu, Global Chief Marketing, Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer at Reckitt, was recognized as Brand Advertiser of the Year, by ACT Responsible, a global association that promotes the best advertising campaigns concerning social and environmental issues from around the world.

“Reckitt’s recognition at Cannes is a very important milestone for our entire organization,” Beaulieu said. “Our commitment to putting sustainability efforts at the core of each of our brands has unleashed creativity to solve the world’s most critical challenges through behaviour change that creates value, drives effectiveness and leaves a positive impact on communities.”

Reckitt’s commitment also helped to influence the wider Cannes community, with its Global Creativity and Diversity & Inclusion Director, Marketing, Efrain Ayala, serving on the Glass Lions jury, for the first time, where he brought the perspective of how brands should be creating authentic, systematic change. With his role as a WFA Global Diversity Ambassador, in tandem with his role at Reckitt, Ayala was able to bring his expertise to Cannes and impart its most valuable aspects to the industry at-large.

The Glass Lions celebrates culture-shifting creativity and work that explicitly addresses issues of gender inequality or prejudice, through the conscious representation of gender in advertising.

ONSITE ACTIVATIONS
Reckitt’s auto dishwashing brand Finish hosted a #SkipTheRinse activation within the Palais de Festivals. This included a branded pop-up space featuring visuals of regions around the world that are at risk from water scarcity. Reckitt invited creatives to pitch ideas for how to further evolve the #SkipTheRinse campaign through a competition to crowdsource creativity. The winner will receive a fully paid trip to Cannes Lions 2024 and may have their idea adopted by Reckitt.

As part of Reckitt’s speaker line-up, Afropop sensation Yemi Alade took to the Palais stage as Global Ambassador of the WiNFUND. Alade shared how she supports women entrepreneurs across Africa to improve access to healthcare through the WiNFUND, which provides investment, business support and mentoring for women-led start-ups and entrepreneurs working to improve community access to healthcare.

“Reckitt and WiNFUND remain committed to empowering women-led health innovation with meaningful impacts in local communities,” said Patty O’Hayer, Global Head of External Communications & Affairs, Reckitt and WiNFUND co-founder.

Tickets are now on sale for a concert streaming event on 1 July with Yemi Alade. Tickets may be purchased online here: https://winfundnft.org/new-event/

World of Coffee Athens: Showcasing Lao Specialty Coffee to EU Market

The Specialty Coffee Association’s “World of Coffee” (WOC) exhibition is an annual event that gathers coffee industry professionals from around the world.

This highly anticipated event provides a platform for producers, traders, importers, roasters, retailers, and coffee enthusiasts to connect, learn, and showcase their products.

In 2023, WOC is taking place from Jun 22-24 in Athens, Greece. It presents a unique opportunity for Lao coffee producers to gain exposure in the European market.

Lao coffee has been gaining recognition as a specialty coffee origin in recent years. The unique geographical conditions and traditional farming practices in the Lao PDR contribute to the production of high-quality coffee beans with distinct flavors and profiles.

WOC Athens provides Lao coffee producers with a platform to showcase their specialty coffee to a diverse audience of industry professionals and coffee enthusiasts.

Lao Coffee Companies Attending the World of Coffee Athens 2023

Five prominent Lao coffee companies will be attending WOC exhibition in Athens: Comma Coffee, Meuang Xieng Coffee, Nambeng Coffee Group, Phouphieng Paksong, and Vanmai Coffee.

These companies were selected to participate based on their involvement in the Lao Annual Green Coffee Competition, which took place earlier in March 2023. The ARISE Plus, the UK Trade Partnerships and Winrock CLEAN projects are collaborating to support their participation in the exhibition to promote the Lao coffee industry as a whole and the individual businesses exhibiting.

Showcasing Lao Specialty Coffee

WOC is Europe’s biggest coffee event. It provides Lao coffee companies with a unique opportunity to showcase their specialty coffee to a diverse range of industry professionals and coffee enthusiasts from around the world. By participating in this event, Lao coffee producers can gain valuable market exposure and insights into the European specialty coffee industry.

Building Connections with Buyers and Importers

WOC Athens 2023 will host over 300 exhibitors and attract more than 10,000 attendees from across 80 nations worldwide.

The key benefit of partaking in this exhibition is the chance to engage with potential buyers and importers, creating opportunities for Lao coffee producers to showcase their distinctive coffee offerings, narrate their stories, and promote the Lao PDR as a specialty coffee origin.

“The Lao Coffee Association is delighted to reaffirm our partnership with the ARISE Plus, the UKTP and the CLEAN projects in a joint effort to bolster the Lao coffee industry. We are proud to participate in Europe’s largest coffee trade show. This presents an unparalleled opportunity for Lao coffee producers to showcase their products and reach new markets. This collaboration is a testament to our unwavering commitment to expanding Lao coffee visibility and marketability. We hope to see the positive outcomes of this collaboration and remain steadfast in our resolve to fortify the Lao coffee sector,” said Sengchan Khammountha, Vice President of the Lao Coffee Association (LCA).

“The ITC Arise Plus and the UKTP projects are delighted to be with our partners, working with and supporting the Lao coffee industry and coffee businesses at the World of Coffee in Athens. Their continuous presence at this flagship event will enhance their credibility and trustworthiness in the eyes of the European coffee market and community,” said Nick Watson, Agribusiness Adviser, International Trade Centre.

“The USDA funded CLEAN Project implemented by Winrock International is delighted once again with partners to support our Lao coffee producers and Government officials to attend this year’s World of Coffee in Athens, Greece to promote the high-quality coffee from the Lao PDR. This is a wonderful opportunity for our participants to highlight their ecological approach to production and their processing practices to fit new market demands. I am glad to see today, the results of all partners support being linked in Athens to some of the largest buyers of coffee in Europe and beyond and wishing great success to all of our participants attending the event,” said Alex Dahan, Chief of Party, Winrock International in the Lao PDR.

Thanks to the international organizations that have generously supported Lao coffee producers to attend the WOC event in Athens. The EU-funded ASEAN Regional Integration Support from the EU (ARISE Plus Lao PDR) Project and the United Kingdom Trade Partnerships (UKTP Lao PDR) implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC), and the USDA-funded Creating Linkages for Expanded Agricultural Networks (CLEAN) Project, implemented by Winrock International, have played a crucial role in making this dream a reality.

Terrorism case opened over Dak Lak attacks

Spokesman of the Ministry of Public Security Lieutenant General To An Xo on June 23 announced that the security investigation agency of Dak Lak provincial police has opened a case of terrorism aimed at opposing the people’s administration; concealing crime; not denouncing criminals; and organising, brokering for other people to illegally exit, enter or stay in Vietnam over the attacks at the headquarters of two communal administrations and civilians in Dak Lak on June 11.

At the same time, the investigation agency of Dak Lak province also issued decisions on prosecution and temporary detention orders for 75 suspects on the charge of “terrorism aimed at opposing the people’s administration” (according to Article 113 of the 2015 Penal Code). Seven suspects are charged with “not denouncing crimes” (Article 390 of the 2015 Penal Code); one charged for concealing a crime (Article 389 of the 2015 Penal Code); and one prosecuted for “organising or brokering for others to illegally exit, enter or stay in Vietnam” (Article 348 of the 2015 Penal Code).

The decisions on prosecution and detention orders have been approved by the People’s Procuracy of the same level.

According to the spokesman, up to now, competent authorities have seized 23 guns of all kinds, two grenades, 1,199 bullets, 15 detonators, 1.2kg of explosives, a silencer, two scopes, a set of mock mines, 30 knives, 10 FULRO flags and many vehicles and tools used by the suspects in the June 11 attacks.

Xo said that with the quick and effective measures of the police force, and the active support and assistance of the people, only two days after the incident, the situation in the area was stabilized. So far, most of the suspects in the attack have been arrested. Under the drastic direction of the Government, the provincial Party Committees and authorities of Central Highlands provinces, normal activities of organisations and residents in Central Highlands provinces in general and Dak Lak province in particular have resumed with social security and order being guaranteed.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, the Dak Lak attack is a terrorist case aimed at opposing the people’s administration, causing particularly serious consequences. The police force has found documents and evidence that prove the case happened with support and direction from organisations and individuals abroad, even with person illegally entering Vietnam from abroad to direct the terrorist attack. Authorities are continuing to investigate the case and will strictly punish the culprits following Vietnamese law.

Vietnam hopes countries and international friends will actively coordinate, support, and cooperate closely with Vietnam in investigating and handling the case in particular, and in the fight against terrorism in general./.
