Covid-19 vaccination reaches 6.7 million

As of Dec 4, Covid-19 vaccination has reached 6.7 million people with 3.23 million, almost 50% of population, fully vaccinated and 4.05 million administered with first dose, shows data of the Centre of Information and Education for Health, Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, the number of people given all recommended doses of Covid-19 vaccine has reached 72.8 % in Vientiane and 61.6% in Bokeo.

Some 889 new Covid-19 cases and three new deaths attributed to Covid-19 have been reported nationwide over the past 24 hours, according to the National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Rattanaxay Phetsouvanh told a press conference today that the newly reported infections, detected among 3,867 people tested for Covid-19 yesterday, have raised the total number to 80,722 including 12,088 active cases and 210 deaths

889 new Covid-19 cases, three more fatalities recorded

Some 889 new Covid-19 cases and three new deaths have been reported nationwide over the past 24 hours, according to the National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Rattanaxay Phetsouvanh told a press conference today that the newly reported infections, detected among 3,867 people tested for Covid-19 yesterday, have raised the total number to 80,722 including 12,088 active cases and 210 deaths. The day witnessed some 839 patients were discharged from hospital.

Most domestic infections were documented in Vientiane with 263, Luang Prabang 87, Oudomxay 82, Vientiane (province) and Xayabury 66 each, Huaphan 54, Bokeo 51 and Savannakhet 39.

Meanwhile, 32 were recorded in Luang Namtha, 28 in Xekong, 25 in Champassak, 21 in Xieng Khuang, 19 in Xaysomboun, 18 in Saravan, ten in Khammuan, nine each in Borikhamxay and Attapeu and six in Phongsaly

1,364 new cases of Covid-19, six new deaths reported

Some 1,364 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported nationwide over the past 24 hours along with six new deaths, all reported in Vientiane.

The newly reported infections have raised the total to 79,833 including 11,842 active cases and 207 deaths.

Vientiane tops the list of provinces with highest daily infections with 658, followed by Luang Namtha 176, Champassak 79, Bokeo 77, Luang Prabang 72, Oudomxay 53, Huaphan 44, Xaysomboun 38, Savannakhet 34, Xayaboury 29 and Xieng Khuang 20.

Some 551 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospital yesterday.

969 new Covid-19 cases, ten new deaths reported

Some 969 new Covid-19 cases have been reported nationwide over the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 78,469 including 11,942 active cases and 201deaths, according to Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Disease Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Sisavath Soutthanilaxay.

Dr Sisavath told a press conference today that some 5,481 people were tested for Covid-19 yesterday and the day also witnessed some 954 patients discharged from hospital.

Of the new confirmed cases, 968 were classified as domestic infections and only one as imported case-documented in Huaphan.

The domestic infections included 450 in Vientiane, 108 in Vientiane (province), 72 in Luang Prabang, 56 in Xayabury, 48 in Bokeo, 40 in Oudomxay, 39 in Phongsaly, 30 in Savannakhet and 28 in Champassak.

Meanwhile, 21 were recorded in Xaysomboun, 18 each in Huaphan and Xieng Khuang, 15 in Borikhamxay, 12 in Khammuan, 36 in Xayaboury, 34 Xieng Khuang, 31 Phongsaly, 13 Khammuan, seven Saravan, four Xekong and two in Attapeu.

Only vaccinated passengers can board Lao-China Railway train

The latest announcement by relevant authorities has stated that all passengers who will travel with Laos-China railway train must hold Covid-19 vaccine certificates proving they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, and IDs.

The Laos-China Railway will be operational for passenger transport on Dec 4, 2021, one day after its official launch. Passengers with temperatures of 37.5 degree Celsius or higher won’t be allowed to enter the train station and they must wear face masks, and must not eat anything while onboard. They are also required to observe social distancing of at least one metre throughout the trip.

Laos bans travelers from countries with Omicron cases

The government has imposed ban on any individuals traveling from nine countries affected by the Omicron variant: South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, the Seychelles, Malawi and Mozambique.

“Right now the World Health Organisation is monitoring closely the new variant Omicron because more than 10 countries have reported people infected with this strain. As for the Lao PDR, measures have been imposed. Everyone entering the country must have samples collected to find out if they have Covid-19, especially the new variant,” said today Deputy Director of the Department of Communicable Disease Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Sisavath Soutthanilaxay.

The nationwide caseload of COVID-19 has reached 75,163 with 1,425 new infections reported over the past 24 hours along with eight deaths including six in Vientiane and two in Vientiane Province.

Most of the victims had underlying medical conditions and been unvaccinated against Covid-19, Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, Ministry of Health, Sisavath Soutthaniraxay, told a press conference in Vientiane this morning.
