COTABATO: Police and military operatives in Sulu killed a drug suspect in a gun “scuffle” and arrested another during a PHP3.4 million drug sting operation on Sunday afternoon.
Director Gil Cesario Castro of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) said authorities arrested Alex Hussin while his cohort, Aldun Hussin, died after allegedly trying to grab a service firearm of a PDEA agent.
‘Aldun was critically injured after an officer shot him for grabbing his service pistol. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival,’ Castro, who is based at the PDEA-BARMM regional headquarters in this city, said on Monday.
Castro said the drug buy-bust operation was conducted in Barangay Poblacion, Maimbung, Sulu, at about 4 p.m. where the suspects agreed to sell the ‘shabu’ drugs to a poseur buyer.
Seized were 13 huge sachets of shabu weighing about 500 grams with an estimated cost of PHP3.4 million, the buy-bust money, and mobile phones
