Mayor of Kaysone Phomvihane City, Savannakhet Province, Pasongsin Chaleunsouk issued a notice on Aug 9 placing the city under lockdown from Aug 9-23 following the sharp rise in Covid-19 infections in the province.
An assessment jointly conducted by Kaysone Phomvihane City Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control and the Savannakhet Provincial Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control has suggested that the city is at high risk of encountering a severe community outbreak of Covid-19 and it is necessary for all parties to take preventive measures against the disease.
Nonsavath village and SOS School have been declared as red zones, and nearby villages as yellow zones.
Traffic in Kaysone Phomvihane City is prohibited between 21:00 pm and 5:00 am with people banned to travel to and from the capital of Savannakhet Province.
