MANILA: Communications Undersecretary for Digital Media Services Emerald Ridao and Budget chief information officer Undersecretary Maria Francisca del Rosario have been included on the list of Filipino women recognized for leading the Philippines’ digital transformation.
In celebration of Women’s Month, GoDigital Pilipinas on Wednesday released the names of Filipino women successful in promoting the country’s growing digital sphere.
Ridao and Del Rosario were among the eight Filipino female leaders called ‘Women in Digital’ or those who excel in the digital space.
‘As an advocate for digital transformation in the Philippines, we are celebrating all the women and their remarkable contributions to the digital world that continuously shape the industry and push the boundaries every day. Let’s all celebrate the achievements of women in digital,’ GoDigital Pilipinas said.
As undersecretary for Digital Media Services in the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Ridao’s primary duty is to communicate the pol
icies, activities, and programs of the Office of the President (OP), as well as the entire Marcos administration.
Ridao handles social media inputs and digital outputs, including battling fake news and misinformation, which now become more prevalent with the advent of deep fakes and other Artificial Intelligence tools.
In a statement released by the PCO, Ridao said the rise of online platforms such as Patreon enables women to ‘put themselves out there, monetize their presence, and really empower other women in these communities.’
She said community-building through the digital world, specifically social media, has also been one of the most progressive advancements brought about by technology.
‘The Philippines is also a good place for women to work in the digital realm,’ Ridao said, recognizing the country’s big digital space for women and the tremendous support from the communities.
Del Rosario, meantime, serves as the Department of Budget and Management’s (DBM) Information and Communications Technology
Group and Chief Information Officer.
She spearheads the DBM’s digitalization initiatives, including the reinstitution of the Budget and Treasury Management System (BTMS).
Apart from Ridao and Del Rosario, GoDigital Pilipinas also recognized The Bureau PH chief executive officer (CEO) Mishy Co; Mwell CEO and Metro Pacific Investments Corp. chief financial officer Chaye Cabal-Revilla; and Connected Women CEO Agnes Gervacio.
Also included were Analytics Association of the Philippines president Michelle Alarcon; Noneaway CEO and co-founder and Pick.A.Roo co-founder Crystal Gonzalez; and Infosys BPM Philippines country head and IBPAP vice chairperson Rhodora Campos.
