Laos has recorded 1,336 new cases, detected among 6,489 people tested for Covid-19, and five new deaths attributed to Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, the National Taskforce Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control reported today.
The deaths were reported in Vientiane.
Of the new cases, 1,330 were classified as domestic infections, Director General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control, Ministry of Health, Dr Rattanaxay Phetsouvanh told a press conference today.
Most of the domestic transmissions were reported in Vientiane 712, Phongsaly 137, Luang Prabang 93, Champassak 65, Savannakhet 62, Vientiane (province) 58, Bokeo 44, Borikhamxay 40, and Xayaboury 31.
Laos has logged 65,818 cases of Covid-19 since the first case was detected in the country in late March 2020. The total includes 142 deaths and 21,028 active cases.
Some 903 patients were discharged from hospital yesterday.
